A 2 month project finally done, 21 roses boxed and mailed for this Valentine. This year, I went all out, and I put my skills to the limit as I did all this under the time limit. The rose was made from 6 layers, 5 square layers was the actual rose and the last layer is the leaf bottom. 18 guage floral wire wrapped with floral tape acted as the stem and leaves were supposed to be added with 22 guage wire, but I ran out of time. The box is 2.5" x 2.5" x 10" cardboard with foamcore lid and made to fit in a PO Box, where most of these were going. However, turns out that with the brown wrapping and the lid, it became too thick and couldn't be removed, so they kept it as a package instead of mail. The inside was lined with tracing paper (I was planning on mulberry paper but time issues stopped me) to decorate and go along with the rose. A personalized card stamped with my Chinese name came included with every box. To hold the lid down, I punched holes in the side and the lid with a small screw driver and ran ribbon through it with glued tips. Overall, a fun project for me and a great surprise gift for those who got it.
Here's a basic overview of what I did.
-Cut 100+ sheets of paper to make 180+ squares
-1-2 hours needed for each rose
-Made the box, lining, lid, and ribbon
-Fitted the box and wrapped it for delivery
Yep, the design is something I created. Other than the rose, which is a tweaked version from a book I bought, I designed and created the layouts for everything else, which included getting regular matte board, cutting it to size, and gluing it together and hand-sewing the cards. A lot of effort, but it was worth it.
I'd like to get something like this, better than real roses. Because
1. you made them yourself
2. they will never die. ^_^
I can clearly see the hard work and emotion that went into this. I couldn't leave the thumbnail unclicked.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
